Great Glen Trails Voted Best Nordic Area in New England

Pinkham Notch, NH – Just two years after fire destroyed their first popular base lodge, a nationwide poll conducted over the past ski season has declared the "new" Great Glen Trails Outdoor Center in Pinkham Notch New Hampshire the best in New England and forth in the nation overall. This was the result of the Best XC Ski Resort Poll conducted by RB Lohr & Company with funding from Fischer Cross Country Skis and Sporthill Performance Clothing. Cross-country skiers in 39 different states and provinces submitted the poll ballots, which rated 211 different ski areas.

The Best XC Ski Resort Poll is dedicated solely to Nordic ski resorts across North America. Cross country skiers rated their favorite cross country ski resorts in seven different operational and characteristic categories including scenery, trail quality and grooming, the lodge facility, food service, staff friendliness and service, and how the resort caters to families. The poll was distributed through 70 cross-country ski areas across the nation and skiers voted based on their perceptions of the respective resorts. Skiers who participated in the balloting cast their vote rating each of the seven categories. The categories were selected by a group of industry consultants and professionals.

" We are thrilled with this news," said Great Glen Trails General Manager Howie Wemyss. "Our goal since
the fire in 2001, has been to create another special Nordic center for our guests. The

new lodge,
combined with our trail system at the base of Mt. Washington really seems to set us apart. I think the
most important part of Great Glen is the staff. They are an exceptional group of people dedicated to
making our guest's experience at Great Glen memorable. "

Other winter activities at Great Glen Trails Outdoor Center include snowshoeing, tubing, and winter
sightseeing tours up Mt. Washington in a specially equipped vehicle called the SnowCoach. The trail
system is made up of more than 40 km of interconnecting trails.

The recently completed lodge also features the Great Glen Outfitters retail and rental shop, Glen View
Café, and an indoor 2-˝ story climbing wall. A newly constructed tunnel under Rt. 16 provides direct
access to the trail system. Summer activities include mountain biking (rentals available) and guided
kayak or canoe trips on the rivers and lakes of New England. Great Glen's partner company, the Mt.
Washington Auto Road is also centered in the new lodge.

Great Glen Trails is located at the base of 6,288 Mt. Washington, the highest peak in the Northeast, on
Rt. 16, eight miles south of Gorham, in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. For more information
