Offshore Sport Betting with your Cellphone
Offshore sport betting with a mobile device like a cellphone or
PDA now allows a sports fan to place a bet anytime, anywhere in
the world. Imagine that you are at a game and your favorite team
is hot and scoring fast. You already have a bet that your team
will win the game, but you figure you can make some additional
money on the outcome of the next few plays. You whip out the
cell phone and log into your online sportbook and check out the
offerings on "play by play wagering" for the game. (For anyone
who does not know what this is, play-by-play wagering gives
sports bettors the opportunity to wager on the outcome of
individual plays during live professional and collegiate
football.) Then you put in your bets and watch to see what
happens. Technology has finally caught up with you, the future
is now!
A number of sportsbooks have the capability to use only 1
account for Internet, telephone and wireless wagering making
this easy to do without remembering which passwords are for
which accounts. What we are talking about here is the use of
software that works on your cellphone, not going over the
Internet and using the regular website which may or may not work
well with the mobile device. When inquiring if a sportsbook has
wireless wagering available, they may say yes thinking that you
are only referring to placing bets over the phone. Get specific
and ask where on their website you can find more information on
the subject. If they provide this service, then read up in their
FAQ's section about how the service works. You'll find it's an
easy process to create a new account if needed and installing
the software on your mobile phone.
Now if you are considering downloading software to your mobile
device to make bets, here are a few things you should know:
First, make sure your cell can support the newer software mobile
operating systems and platforms such as
Microsoft's Windows
Mobile (for PocketPC Phones and Handhelds or Smartphones),
PalmSource's PalmOS, SymbianOS or RIM Blackberry devices. Having
a java-enabled phone or a phone powered with mobile Internet
browsers and Bluetooth is a major plus.
You will need to find a sportsbook that supports mobile usage
and create an account with them. This can be done over your PC
or cell phone. But before signing up, make sure that their
wireless software can work on your phone! Most sportsbooks have
a list of what they can support.
For those who travel frequently, you should make sure your
mobile device is "world-phone ready". Basically this capability
will allow global roaming. And quad-band mobile devices are more
useful as they give greater roaming ability than dual-band
devices. Ask the retailer of your phone for more details.
Making sure that your carrier network provider has international
roaming arrangements with where ever you may travel to is also a
good idea.
Ask about the differences for minimum wagers between online bets
and those placed over the phone. Some have different minimums as
to the amounts that can be bet for phone wagers.
If you were looking for something to add more fun and excitement
to sports wagering, you've found it. Using your cellphone can
allow you to bet anytime, anywhere and at any event. With
128-bit encryption your transactions are secure so your details
remain private. And because you don't have to talk out loud, no
one knows your personal business but you. Have fun and good
luck!
